Originally established in 1790 as the Charleston Orphan House, Carolina Youth Development Center is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to empowering and equipping our community’s most vulnerable children by providing a safe environment, educational support, and career readiness. While services have grown to include outreach to at-risk children and families throughout the community, CYDC’s most enduring program is its residential foster home, which serves children throughout the state of South Carolina who are victims of physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse, neglect and abandonment. For information visit CYDC.org or call (843)266-5200.
Give the gift of experience.
Being away from their families during Christmas can be difficult for kids living in foster care, but CYDC strives to find an array of fun activities to keep them busy and having fun throughout the holiday and winter break.
Providing opportunities for foster kids to experience the season’s traditions and local activities can be a source of comfort and help make the holidays a little easier.
Give the gift of making a house a home.
Simple, everyday household goods such as kitchen utensils and bathroom linens are what make the houses at CYDC homes for the kids in residence here. Help us replenish and replace items for the cottages on our campuses.
Help us provide a fun-filled winter break for the children at CYDC!
