2017 Volunteer Needs/Opportunities
Business Partners
- Partner with Bakker Career Center (or other areas) to expose CYDC Children to new careers, sponsor an on-campus event
Homewood Suites by Hilton general manager Cori Lovern (front, black shirt) and Hampton Inn and Suites general manager Anthony Smith (to Cori’s right) giving a Hilton careers and recruitment presentation to CYDC teenage youth. - Internship/job opportunities
- Long or short-term commitment individuals or groups
Administrative Services
- Front desk receptionist duties, filing, accounting, etc.
- Commitment is 4 hours/week, depending on availability
Homework Helpers
- Helping children with homework during the school year in the Bakker Career Center
- Math Tutors
- One hour a week commitment
Evening Activities
- Planning and executing activities with children in the homes (in the evenings)
- Small groups
- Commitment is once per month to once per year
Landscaping/Maintenance
- Small to large “as-needed” projects (landscaping, HVAC, electrical gardening, etc.)

Outdoor “Play Dates”
- Planning and executing campus-wide activities for all CYDC children on both campuses
- Small to large groups only
- Commitment is a “one-time” event to quarterly
Marketing/Social Media
- Graphic design/layout and design, advanced website help
- Annual marketing plans, assistance with local media outlets to secure PSA’s, press
Seminar Speakers
- Speaking to small groups of CYDC children about an area of your expertise/interest
- The Center for Life hosts 1-2 hour sessions to expose CYDC children to new life, leadership, or career skills. An excellent introduction to our children that often leads to other volunteer opportunities
- Individuals or small groups
- Commitment is a “one-time” event for 1-2 hours
Become a Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Mentor
- Spend a few hours a couple times a month with a Little either at participating schools or in the
BBBS of CYDC mentor Matt fishing with his Little, JayKwon. community
- Minimum time commitment is one year for a match
- Fill out an online application to volunteer as a Big Brother or Big Sister
Serving on Committees (Meets once a month for 1 hour)
